Description

The Public Library Geographic Database includes the locations of over 16,000 public library central and outlet branches in the United States. State summaries and central library information includes population, circulation, population, databases, expenditures, service area type, revenue, capital, and staff statistics.

Collection Methodology

The library entities and outlets are derived from the 1999 Federal-State Cooperative System (FSCS) Public Library Survey data files. Library locations are based on street addresses recorded in 1998, with some quality control (sometimes even calling the library). Bookmobiles not included at this time.
