US PK-12 School Test Results (schoolperfed_com.sch_tst)

School test results, by school year. Test results are generally comparable within each state because of common testing scales and exams. Note that scales and exams vary between states, and direct comparisons between values and schools in different states will be misleading at best and harmful at worst.

The scores usually reflect the portion of students who the state believes are making satisfactory progress towards graduation. However, there two exceptions: 1) We report the raw scores for the college admissions exams (SAT and ACT). 2) The Kentucky Core Content Test reports scores, not the portion of students who the state believes are passing. Strictly for the convenience of map makers, we normalize Kentucky's 0-140 scores to the same 0-1 range that other schools report for their portion passing.

We combine all of the high school results into one field with the prefix 'hs'. For example, 'hs_math' includes both the California High School Exit Exam's grade 10 math test and the Michigan Merit Exam grade 11 math test.

In some cases, our figures will incorporate more than than one test for a given school or district. For example, California tests both World History and U.S. History; Texas tests math in both grades 10 and 11. When there is more than one test result for a particular subject in a school or district, we average all the test results.

Test results for grades 1-8 are prefixed with 'g' and the grade number.

Specific details about results by district can be found on Education.com's web page for each individual district. This URL can be retreived with the codename schoolperfed_com.schl.url.
