Dataset: Overweight and Obesity Trends
- Description
The CDC Overweight and Obesity Trends dataset includes the percent of those overweight, those obese, and those neither overweight nor obese among residents of each state in the United States.
- Collection Methodology
Data collected by the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, operated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, then aggregated to the state level. The CDC defines overweight people as those having a weight classification by Body Mass Index (BMI) between 25.0 and 29.9. It defines obese individuals as having a weight classification by BMI between 30.0 and 99.8. Those people with a weight classification by BMI of less than 24.9 are considered neither overweight nor obese.
