Dataset: Ultraviolet Average Levels
- Description
The NOAA Ultraviolet Average Levels dataset includes ultraviolet (UV) index scores and total ozone amount for the United States. The data show daily, monthly, yearly and 12-year UV averages.
- Collection Methodology
Dataset is computed using forecasted ozone data, a radiative transfer model, forecasted cloud amounts, climatological aerosol loading, variable snow and constant bare earth albedo, and elevation to create a UV dose rate forecast, which is converted into the UV Index.
