Description

The CDC Infant Birth and Mortality dataset includes birth and infant death rates and counts, with information gathered for each infant under one (1) year of age who dies in the United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Guam.

Collection Methodology

Data originally collected by state vital registration systems, who are legally responsible for the registration of vital events – births, deaths, marriages, divorces, and fetal deaths. Data then published by the National Center for Health Statistics, a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
